Doris M. Cromartie, a resident of Charlotte, N.C., became involved in Democratic Party activities during the mid-1950s. She led in the organization of Democratic Women's Clubs in North Carolina and served as vice chairperson of the Mecklenburg County Democratic Committee (1958) and vice chairperson of the N.C.
